The detailed syllabus of medical electronics lab 1 is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide hands-on experience for the students with the various kinds of transducers used in the medical field.<\/li>\n<li>To get acquainted with different IC&#8217;s used in the medical electronics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Interpret the characteristics of displacement measurement transducers and photo transducers by conducting the experiment.<\/li>\n<li>Interpret the characteristics of temperature and pressure transducers by conducting the experiment.<\/li>\n<li>Make use of Transducer IC&#8217;s such as AD 590, LM35 and electrodes for biopotential measurements<\/li>\n<li>Implement various circuits like skin contact impedance measurement, Flash ADC, Optical isolation circuit. 1<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Set up the circuit and measure displacement using potentiometer<\/li>\n<li>Set up the circuit and measure the level\/ displacement using capacitive transducer<\/li>\n<li>Plot output characteristics of LVDT and measure displacement using LVDT<\/li>\n<li>Set up the circuit and plot LDR characteristic curve<\/li>\n<li>Set up the circuit and measure the characteristics of photodiode<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Implement the circuit to plot the characteristics of the thermistor.<\/li>\n<li>Implement the circuit to plot characteristics of RTD<\/li>\n<li>Implement the measurement of strain using strain gauge.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Familiarize AD 590 and plot its characteristics.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarize LM35 and plot its characteristics<\/li>\n<li>Familiarize with various types of ECG, EEG and EMG electrodes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Set up the circuit and measure skin contact impedance using suitable circuit.<\/li>\n<li>Set up the circuit to work as Flash ADC (3 bit).<\/li>\n<li>Set up the circuit using opto-coupler (IC MCT2E) as an isolation circuit.<\/li>\n<li>Open ended Experiments<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Suggested Open Ended Projects<\/h4>\n<p>(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation. Students can do open ended experiments as a group of 4-5. There is no duplication in experiments between groups. Open ended experiments should include the use of transducers, ICs studied and other application circuits. Circuits can be simulated using suitable software.)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Design and simulate circuits to identify<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Obstacles in the surrounding<\/li>\n<li>Temperature in an observation area<\/li>\n<li>Pressure variations<\/li>\n<li>Intensity of light<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Implement application circuits in simulation software\/breadboard\/PCB.<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>16-bit ADC with commercially available ICs<\/li>\n<li>Temperature regulators for incubators\/sterilizers<\/li>\n<li>Light Intensity controllers for phototherapy unit<\/li>\n<li>Respiration rate monitor with displacement transducers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>A.K.
