The detailed syllabus of applied chemistry lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To supplement the factual knowledge gained in the lectures by first hand manipulation of processes and apparatus.<\/li>\n<li>To develop scientific temper and help to apply the basic concepts and principles in solving engineering problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Quantitatively analyse solutions accurately.<\/li>\n<li>Standardise EDTA and analyse the hardness of water<\/li>\n<li>Determine the pH of solutions using different techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the principles of electrochemistry in quantitative analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<p>Experiments<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preparation of standard solution of oxalic acid.<\/li>\n<li>Standardisation of hydrochloric acid using standard sodium carbonate solution.<\/li>\n<li>Estimation of sodium hydroxide using standard hydrochloric acid.<\/li>\n<li>Determine the strength of given potassium hydroxide solution by titrating against standard oxalic acid solution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<p>Experiments<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Standardisation of EDTA using ZnSO4<\/li>\n<li>Volumetric estimation of total hardness of given water sample using standard EDTA solution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<p>Experiments<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>pH meter<\/li>\n<li>Universal indicator pH test paper<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<p>Experiments<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine the conductivity of a given water sample using conductometer.<\/li>\n<li>Verify the first law of electrolysis using copper sulphate solution and copper electrodes.<\/li>\n<li>Measurement of emf of electrochemical cell using Daniel cell.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Open Ended Experiment\/Microprojects<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p><i>Note:<\/i><br \/>\n Experiments shall be conducted such that all COs are attained.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 6 experiments (excluding open ended experiments\/microprojects) shall be performed.<\/li>\n<li>Compulsory for CIA<\/li>\n<li>The CIA shall be arranged in first semester by the faculty in charge.<\/li>\n<li>The ESE need to be conducted at the end of the first semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Text Book of Chemistry for Class XI &amp; XII (Part-I, Part-II); N.C.E.R.T., Delhi, 2017-18.<\/li>\n<li>Dr. G.
