Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n

Students will be able to practice database problems using MySQL & MongoDB database.\n<\/p>\n

Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n

On completion of the course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n

  1. Demonstrate the use of DDL and DML commands in MySQL database<\/li>\n
  2. Develop queries using aggregate functions, join operations, nested queries and views<\/li>\n
  3. Develop programs using functions, procedures, and trigger<\/li>\n
  4. Implement basic database operations in MongoDB.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Module 1:<\/h4>\n
      \n
    1. Demonstrate DDL commands-CREATE, ALTER, DROP<\/li>\n
    2. Apply integrity constraints -PRIMARY KEY, NOT NULL, DEFAULT, CHECK, UNIQUE, FOREIGN KEY<\/li>\n
    3. Experiment DML commands – INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE to manipulate databases<\/li>\n
    4. Experiment SELECT statement using WHERE, DISTINCT, BETWEEN, ORDER BY, IN, LIKE for data retrieval from the databases<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Module 2:<\/h4>\n

      1. Implement aggregate functions -SUM, AVG, COUNT, MIN, MAX -GROUP BY and HAVING clause<\/li>\n
      2. Construct nested queries<\/li>\n
      3. Demonstrate queries for inner and outer joins.<\/li>\n
      4. Illustrate various views of the table<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Module 3:<\/h4>\n

        1. Develop programs using Stored Procedures<\/li>\n
        2. Develop programs using Stored Functions<\/li>\n
        3. Develop programs using Cursor<\/li>\n
        4. Illustrate programs using triggers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Module 4:<\/h4>\n

          1. Install and configure MongoDB.<\/li>\n
          2. Implement CRUD operations in MongoDB.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Open-Ended Experiments<\/h4>\n

            (Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation). Students can do open-ended experiments as a group of 3-5. There is no duplication in experiments in between groups. This is mainly for the purpose of continuous internal evaluation and a score of 15 marks. Students should prepare a separate report on an open -ended experiment of their choice.
