Petrol Engine Service Lab<\/title><\/p>\n<h4>GENERAL COURSE OUTCOME<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Understand various precautions to be followed in an Automobile workshop.<\/li>\n<li>Understand various tools, gauges and equipments.<\/li>\n<li>Understand various components in petrol engine fuel system.<\/li>\n<li>Dismantle and assemble two stroke and 4 stroke petrol engines and its components.<\/li>\n<li>Check defects in engine components.<\/li>\n<li>Dismantle, clean and tune a carburetor.<\/li>\n<li>Check and adjust fan belt tension.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the setting of ignition timing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>SPECIFIC COURSE OUTCOME<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n MODULE I<\/p>\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Know the safety precautions to be followed in an automobile workshop<\/li>\n<li>Select the appropriate tools, gauges and equipment<\/li>\n<li>Carryout cleaning, greasing and oiling of equipment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> MODULE II<\/p>\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Carryout dismantling and assembling of two stroke and four stroke petrol engines<\/li>\n<li>Carryout inspection of various engine components and methods of reconditioning<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> MODULE III<\/p>\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Perform the dismantling, cleaning and testing of A.C. mechanical pump<\/li>\n<li>Perform the dismantling, cleaning and tuning of carburetor and servicing of air cleaner<\/li>\n<li>Flush and inspect the lubricating and cooling systems and oil pumps<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p> MODULE IV<\/p>\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Perform dismantling, cleaning and assembling of water pump<\/li>\n<li>Check and adjust fan belt tension<\/li>\n<li>Perform trouble shooting in petrol engines-setting the ignition timing and starting the engine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>MODULE I<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Study the various safety precautions to be followed in an automobile workshop.<\/li>\n<li>Identify the various tools, gauges and equipments to be used in an automobile workshop.<\/li>\n<li>Study the maintenance procedure of workshop equipments<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>MODULE II<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Dismantle and assemble the four stroke petrol engine.<\/li>\n<li>Remove, inspect and refit the cylinder head.<\/li>\n<li>Dismantle, inspect and assemble the valve assembly.<\/li>\n<li>Perform the Valve tappet clearance adjustment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>MODULE III<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Conduct various tests on AC mechanical pump. Dismantle and assemble the AC mechanical pump.<\/li>\n<li>Dismantle, clean, assemble and tune the carburettor.<\/li>\n<li>Perform the servicing of Air cleaner.<\/li>\n<li>Flush and inspect the lubrication system and oil pumps.<\/li>\n<li>Flush the cooling system.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>MODULE IV<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Perform the servicing of water pump.<\/li>\n<li>Check and adjust fan belt tension.<\/li>\n<li>Set the ignition timing and start the engine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Reference Books:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n N.
