<p>The duration of summer internship 1 shall be three to four weeks during summer vacation and all procedures have to be completed within three weeks of the beginning of Semester 3.<br />
The following activities will be considered as Summer Internship 1</p>

<li>Inter/Intra Institutional/Industrial activities viz; Training with higher Institutions/industry</li>
<li>Soft skill training organized by Training and Placement Cell of the respective institutions;</li>
<li>Contribution at incubation/ innovation /entrepreneurship cell of the institute</li>
<li>Participation in conferences/ workshops/ competitions etc</li>
<li>Learning at Departmental Lab/Tinkering Lab/ Institutional workshop</li>
<li>Working for consultancy/ research project within the institute/industry and</li>
<li>Participation in all the activities of Institute&#8217;s Innovation Council for eg: IPR workshop/Leadership Talks/ Idea/Design/ Innovation/ Business Completion/ Technical Expos etc.</li>
<p>Each student shall start her/his internship only after prior approval from respective HOD/Principal.

<li>To impart knowledge on plant morphology, taxonomy and anatomy.</li>
<li>To provide students with skills necessary to section and stain fresh plant material in preparation for study of plant anatomy.</li>
<li>To train students in the proper use of the compound light microscope and to give them experience in interpreting images that they see through the microscope in terms of how plant structure is related to function.</li>

<li>Apply and illustrate the concepts of mechanics and properties of matter through experiments</li>
<li>Experiment with lens, prism and glass slab to realize the basic laws of ray optics.</li>
<li>Make use of V- I characteristics of conductors and semiconductors to determine the resistance of materials.</li>

<li>Vernier Calipers: To determine the volume of a spherical / cylindrical body and a test tube by measuring its dimensions using vernier calipers.</li>
<li>Screw gauge: To determine diameter of a wire, a solid ball and thickness of glass plate using screw gauge.</li>
<li>Spherometer: To determine radius of curvature of a spherical surface using a spherometer</li>
<li>Mercury thermometer: To measure room temperature and temperature of a hot bath using mercury thermometer and convert it into different scales.</li>

<li>Hooke&#8217;s law: To verify Hooke&#8217;s law and determine force constant of a spring using Hooke&#8217;s law apparatus.</li>
<li>Stoke&#8217;s law: To find the coefficient of viscosity of a given liquid by measuring the terminal velocity of a spherical body.</li>
<li>Parallelogram law of forces: To verify parallelogram law of forces and find the mass of the given body.</li>
<li>Moment bar: To determine the mass of the given body using moment bar.</li>
<li>U-tube apparatus: To determine the relative density of liquid using U-tube apparatus.</li>
<li>Flywheel: To find the moment of inertia of a flywheel.</li>
<li>Simple pendulum: To determine acceleration due to gravity at a place by measuring the time period of a simple pendulum</li>
<li>Resonance column: To determine the velocity of sound in air at room temperature using resonance column apparatus</li>
<li>Cantilever: To find the time period of oscillations of a cantilever</li>

<li>Ohm&#8217;s law: To verify Ohm&#8217;s law by plotting graph between current and potential difference.</li>

<li>Semiconductor diode: To draw V-I characteristics of a semiconductor diode (Ge, Si) and determine its knee voltage.</li>
<li>Potentiometer: To determine internal resistance of a primary cell / comparison of emfs using potentiometer.</li>
<li>Meter bridge: To determine specific resistance of material of the given wire.</li>

<p>This is an English language development course which aims at developing the language skills needed for the learners both at the workplace and in daily life. The course has a wide range of learning material to familiarize with, internalize and use at the workplace. The objectives of the course are:</p>

Identify centre of Gravity of simple solids (Cube, cuboid, cone, cylinder, sphere, hemisphere :- no derivation) Centre of Gravity of composite solids composed of not more than two simple solids. Moment of inertia (M.I.): Definition, M.I. of plane lamina and solid bodies ,Radius of gyration, Parallel and Perpendicular axes theorems (without derivations) M.I. of rectangle, square, circle, semi-circle, quarter circle and triangle section (without derivations). <li>Explain solid Waste Management, ISO 14000 &amp; Environmental Management and conduct a case study on any one environmental problem / application of sustainable energy resources	1</li>

<p>Structure of ecosystem, ecological pyramid, Biotic &amp; Abiotic components, Food chain and food web, Aquatic (Lentic and Lotic) and terrestrial ecosystem. Carbon, Nitrogen, Sulphur, Phosphorus cycle. Global Warming-Causes, effects, process, GreenHouse Effect, Ozone depletion, acid rain

Utilization and storage of biogas. Wind energy: Current status and future prospects of wind energy. Wind energy in India. Environmental benefits and the problem of wind energy. New Energy Sources: Need for new sources. Different types of new energy sources. Applications of (Hydrogen energy, Ocean energy resources, Tidal energy conversion.) Concept, origin and power plants of geothermal energy

<p>Solid waste generation- Sources and characteristics of: Municipal solid waste, E- waste, biomedical waste. Metallic wastes and Non-Metallic wastes (lubricants, plastics, rubber) from industries. Collection and disposal: MSW (3R, principles, energy recovery, sanitary landfill), Hazardous waste Air quality act 2004, air pollution control act 1981 and water pollution and control ac1.996. Structure and role of Central and state pollution control board. Concept of Carbon Credit, Carbon Footprint. Environmental management in the fabrication industry. ISO14000: Implementation in industries, Benefits.
