6269: Virtualization Technology and Cloud Computing Lab Syllabus for Information Technology 6th Sem 2021 Revision SITTTR (Professional Elective-IV)

Virtualization Technology and Cloud Computing Lab detailed syllabus for Information Technology (IF) for the 2021 revision curriculum has been taken from the SITTTRs official website and presented to the Information Technology (IF) students. The detailed syllabus for the virtualization technology and cloud computing lab is as follows.

Course Objectives:

  • To provide practical exposure to the basics of Virtualization Technology and Cloud Computing.
  • To extend Web Development, Network & System Administration skills in Cloud Computing Platforms.

Course Outcomes:

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Experiment with Hypervisors and Virtual Machines
  2. Experiment with the installation of Guest OSs on VMs and its configuration
  3. Experiment with Management of CPU, Memory, Storage, and Network for a VM and configure network between VMs
  4. Experiment with Cloud IaaS and PaaS

Module 1:

  1. Install VMWare Workstation Player
  2. Familiarize VMWare Workstation Player
  3. Install VirtualBox
  4. Familiarize VirtualBox
  5. Create a Virtual Machine on VMWare
  6. Create a Virtual Machine on Virtual Box

Module 2:

  1. Install Windows on a Virtual Machine (VMWare)
  2. Install VMWare Tools for the above installation
  3. Configure USB Port
  4. Configure Shared Folder
  5. Install Linux on a Virtual Machine (VirtualBox)
  6. Install VirtualBox Guest Additions for the above installation
  7. Configure USB Port
  8. Configure Shared Folder

Module 3:

  1. Manage CPUs for a VM
  2. Manage Memory for a VM
  3. Manage Storage for a VM
  4. Manage Network for a VM
  5. Copy a VM
  6. Configure Network between two VMs (VMWare)
  7. Configure Network between two VMs (VirtualBox)

Module 4:

  1. Create an account and familiarize control panel of Google Cloud / AWS / Microsoft Azure or any other cloud service provider
  2. Create VMs on the Cloud
  3. Install LAMP Stack on one VM and test from another VM and host machine.
  4. Open-ended experiment. **

Suggested Open-Ended Experiments:

(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation. Students can do open-ended experiments in groups of 2-3. There is no duplication in experiments between groups. Open-ended experiments should include the concepts of arrays, functions, and structures)

  1. Host a simple website in the Cloud
