Course Objectives:

  • To inculcate skills that enable students to perform with professionalism and demonstrate high integrity in the work place and society.

Course Outcomes:

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Make oral presentations and draft official correspondence.
  2. Use confidence, self-discipline and willingness in the completion of tasks
  3. Apply reasoning and logical skills in various contexts of decision making.
  4. Apply the concepts and principles of basic arithmetic calculations to perform practical operations.

Module 1:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to prepare short speeches on given topic and make oral presentation.
  2. Demonstration of interview skills, presentations skills.
  3. Listen to a speech and write the gist of the same for developing better listening skills
  4. Prepare a model resume showcasing knowledge and skills.
  5. Draft formal correspondence in various organizational contexts (MS Word and Email)

Module 2:

  1. Analyze the personality of self using a SWOT analysis and reflect the same.
  2. Demonstrate cold calling and warm calling to prospects for a given product and scenario.
  3. Perform stress interviews at various simulated contexts
  4. Perform a group discussion to demonstrate time management and self-discipline

Module 3:

  1. Solve logical reasoning questions, assumptions and arguments.
  2. Solve verbal reasoning questions based on syllogism.
  3. Solve business problems using objective reasoning.

Module 4:

  1. Solve questions involving fundamental arithmetic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  2. Use arithmetic principles in solving basic business problems (Percentage, Averages-mean ,mode, median, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, interest rates, loans, annuities, insurance, credit, depreciation, future and present values, financial statements)
