6139A: Internet of Things Lab Syllabus for Information Technology 6th Sem 2021 Revision SITTTR (Professional Elective-IV)

The detailed syllabus for the Internet of Things lab is as follows.

Course Objectives:

  • Provide skills to build Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

Course Outcomes:

On completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Develop simple IoT applications using computing boards (Node MCU/Arduino, etc) and sensors
  2. Identify Python programming constructs for IoT applications
  3. Develop IoT applications using Raspberry PI
  4. Design and develop an IoT application to solve problems

Module 1:

  1. Experiment with Computing boards and sensors to familiarize yourself with IoT gadgets.
  2. Develop simple IoT applications with computing boards and sensors
  3. Develop applications to control sensors through web pages, mobile applications
  4. Implement applications to upload data to the cloud

Module 2:

  1. Recall Programming concepts of Python – data types, lists, tuple, dictionaries, etc
  2. Recall control structures in Python
  3. Develop Programs using functions, packages, and modules
  4. Make use of Python packages for IoT

Module 3:

  1. Experiment with Raspberry PI
  2. Develop Simple IoT applications with Raspberry PI to interact with the web, mobile applications, and cloud.

Module 4:

  1. Open-ended Experiment: Design and develop an IoT application to solve a real-world problem.

Suggested Open Ended Experiment

(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation. Students can do open-ended experiments in groups of 2-3. There is no duplication in experiments between groups. )

    1. Design and develop an IoT application to acquire/read data about the location from

so many visitors entering into a mall.
