4338: Mechanics of Robotics Lab Syllabus for Automation & Robotics 4th Sem 2021 Revision SITTTR

Course Objectives:

  • Study and demonstrate the kinematic behavior of mechanical linkages
  • Study the working of different mechanical drives, vibrations and balancing of masses
  • Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis with simulation

Course Outcomes:

On completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the kinematic behavior of linkages and Cams
  2. Study the working of mechanical drives
  3. Demonstrate the vibration of mechanical elements and to study the balancing of forces
  4. Perform kinematic and dynamic analyses with simulation.

Module 1:

Experiments

  1. Kinematics of Four Bar, Slider Crank and their inversions
  2. Kinematics of single and double universal joints.
  3. Cam – Cam profile drawing, Motion curves and study of jump phenomenon

Module 2:

Experiments

  1. Study the working of belt, chain and rope drives
  2. Study gear parameters.
  3. Experimental study of velocity ratios of simple, compound, Epicyclic and differential gear trains

Module 3:

Experiments

  1. Motorized gyroscope – Study of gyroscopic effect and couple.
  2. Single degree of freedom Spring Mass System – Determination of natural Frequency
  3. Study of torsional vibration in shaft (single rotor and two rotor system)
  4. To determine whirling speed of the shaft with concentrate loading
  5. Understand and verify the fundamental laws of static & dynamic balancing
  6. Study balancing of rotating and reciprocating masses.

Module 4:

Experiments

  1. Forward kinematics and validation using a software (Robo Analyser/Matlab or any other free software tool)
  2. Inverse kinematics of an industrial robot and validation using any open-source software
