Course Objectives:
- To provide knowledge about the working of Drilling machine, shaper, slotter, milling and grinding machines.
- To familiarize various measuring instruments for taking dimension.
- To familiarize students with different operations on lathe, drilling, shaper, slotter, milling and grinding machines.
Course Outcomes:
On completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Perform operations on shaping machine.
- Demonstrate various operations on milling machines/Slotter
- Demonstrate the operations of different grinding machines.
- Practice precise boring operations on tool room lathe.
Module 1:
- Perform shaping operations like flat, step, channel and angular surfaces.
Module 2:
- Perform plain, step and channel milling operation using different milling cutters.
- Illustrate Keyway cutting operationon slotter.
Module 3:
- Practice on surface grinding/cylindrical grinding machines.
- Demonstrate grinding wheel grades and selection Mounting,balancing and dressing of grinding wheel.
Module 4:
- Demonstrate Four jaw chuck setting using dial indicators, Boring holes to an accuracy of +/- 0.02 mm, reaming with machine reamer, check with plug gauge.
- Drill deep through holes.
