MODULE – I
Design – Introduction to graphic design – goal, audience, venue and budget. Design elements- line, shape, value, and format, texture – visual and tactile, type, color and space – negative and positive. Principles of design – harmony, rhythm, contrast, balance – (formal, informal), proportion, unity. Guttenberg diagram of eye direction. Layout: – definition, stages-miniature, rough, comprehensive and finished layout.

Designing and design features of – Book design, Magazine design, News magazine and news paper design.
