The student also is enabled to prepare the assembly of various machine or engine components and miscellaneous machine components.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Machine Drawing Conventions<\/strong><br \/>\nNeed for drawing conventions \u2013 introduction to IS conventions<br \/>\na) Conventional representation of materials, common machine elements\u00a0and parts such as screws, nuts, bolts, keys, gears, webs, ribs.<br \/>\nb) Types of sections \u2013 selection of section planes and drawing of sections\u00a0and auxiliary sectional views. Parts not usually sectioned.<br \/>\nc) Methods of dimensioning, general rules for sizes and placement of\u00a0dimensions for holes, centers, curved and tapered features.<br \/>\nd) Title boxes, their size, location and details &#8211; common abbreviations &amp;\u00a0their liberal usage.<br \/>\ne) Types of Drawings \u2013 working drawings for machine parts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I. Drawing of Machine Elements and simple parts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective<\/strong>: To provide basic understanding and drawing practice of various joint, simple mechanical parts Selection of Views, additional views for the following machine elements and parts with every drawing proportions.<br \/>\na) Popular forms of Screw threads, bolts, nuts, stud bolts, tap bolts, set\u00a0screws.<br \/>\nb) Keys, cottered joints and knuckle joint.<br \/>\nc) Rivetted joints for plates<br \/>\nd) Shaft coupling, spigot and socket pipe joint.<br \/>\ne) Journal, pivot and collar and foot step bearings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II. Assembly Drawings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The student will be able to draw the assembly from the individual part drawing.\u00a0Drawings of assembled views for the part drawings of the following using conventions and easy drawing proportions.<br \/>\na) Engine parts \u2013 stuffing boxes, cross heads, Eccentrics, Petrol Engine<br \/>\nconnecting rod, piston assembly.<br \/>\nb) Other machine parts &#8211; Screws jacks, Machine Vices Plummer block,\u00a0Tailstock.<br \/>\nc) Valves : Steam stop valve, spring loaded safety valve, feed check<br \/>\nvalve and air cock.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE<\/strong> : First angle projection to be adopted.
