Two Hinged Arches:Determination of horizontal thrust, bending moment, normal thrust and radial shear \u2013 Rib shortening and temperature stresses, tied arches \u2013 fixed arches \u2013 ( No analytical question).<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-II : Lateral Load Analysis Using Approximate Methods:<\/strong> application to building frames. (i) Portal method (ii) Cantilever method.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT \u2013 III : Cable Structures And Suspension Bridges:<\/strong> Introduction, characteristics of cable, analysis of cables subjected to concentrated and uniformly distributed loads, anchor cable, temperature stresses, analysis of simple suspension bridge, three hinged and two hinged stiffening girder suspension bridges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT \u2013 IV : Moment Distribution Method:<\/strong> Stiffness and carry over factors \u2013 Distribution factors \u2013 Analysis of continuous beams with and without sinking of supports \u2013 Portal frames \u2013 including Sway-Substitute frame analysis by two cycle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT \u2013 V : Kani\u2019s Method:<\/strong> Analysis of continuous beams \u2013 including settlement of supports and single bay portal frames with and without side sway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNI \u2013 VI : Introduction to Matrix Methods:<\/strong> Flexibility methods: Introduction, application to continuous beams (maximum of two unknowns) including support settlements.
