This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Generation and Measurement of High Voltages M.Tech 2017-2018 (R17) first year first sem is as follows.<\/p>\n<p>M.Tech. I Year I Sem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide strong knowledge on different types electrical stresses on power system and equipment.<\/li>\n<li>To impart knowledge on generation of high AC, DC and impulse voltages and impulse currents.<\/li>\n<li>To know about generation and measurement of high voltages and high currents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course Outcomes:<\/strong> After completion of this course, student will be able to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To design the suitable high voltage and high current generating and measuring circuits.<\/li>\n<li>To understand generation and measurement of impulse and peak voltages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT-I: Electrostatic Fields and Field Stress Control:<\/strong> Electric fields in homogeneous Isotropic materials and in multi dielectric media \u2013 Simple configurations \u2013 field stress control. Methods of computing electrostatic fields \u2013 conductive analogues &#8211; Impedance networks, Numerical techniques \u2013 finite difference method \u2013 finite element method and charge simulation method.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-II: Generation of High Voltages and Currents:<\/strong> Direct Voltages: AC to DC conversion methods, electrostatic generators \u2013 Cascaded Voltage Multipliers, Alternating Voltages: Testing transformers \u2013 Resonant circuits and their applications. Impulse Voltages: Impulse voltage specifications \u2013 Impulse generation circuits \u2013 Operation, construction and design of Impulse generators, generation of switching and long duration impulses. Impulse Currents: Generation of high impulse currents and high current pulses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-III: Measurement of High Voltages:<\/strong> Measurement of high DC Voltages: Series resistance meters, voltage dividers and generating voltmeters. Measurement of high AC Voltages: Series impedance meters, electrostatic voltmeters, potential transformers and CVTS \u2013 voltage dividers and their applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-IV: Measurement of Peak Voltage:<\/strong> Sphere gaps, uniform field gaps, rod gaps. Chubbs \u2013 Fortesuere methods. Passive and active rectifier circuits for voltage dividers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-V: Measurement of Impulse Voltages &amp; Currents:<\/strong> Measurement of Impulse Voltage: Voltage dividers and impulse measuring systems \u2013 generalized voltage measuring circuits \u2013 transfer characteristics of measuring circuits \u2013 L.V. Arms for voltage dividers \u2013 compensated dividers.
