III Year I Sem. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0L\/T\/P\/C<br \/>\nCourse Code:AE503PC \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 4\/1\/0\/4<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; I:\u00a0Thin Plate Theory, Structural Instability:<\/strong> Analysis of thin rectangular plates subject to\u00a0bending, twisting, distributed transverse load, combined bending and in-plane loading- thin\u00a0plates having small initial curvature, energy methods of analysis. Buckling of thin plateselastic,\u00a0inelastic, experimental determination of critical load for a flat plate, local instability,\u00a0Tension field beams- complete diagonal tension, incomplete diagonal tension.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; II:\u00a0Bending, Shear and Torsion of Thin Walled Beams:<\/strong> Unsymmetrical bending- resolution\u00a0of bending moments, direct stress distribution, position of neutral axis. Deflections due to\u00a0bending- approximations for thin walled sections, temperature effects. Shear loaded thin\u00a0walled beams- general stress, strain and displacement relationships- direct stress &#8211; shear\u00a0centre, twist and warping. Torsion of beams of closed section- displacements associated with\u00a0Bredt-Batho shear flow. Torsion of open section beams. Warping of cross section- conditions\u00a0for zero warping.
