III Year II Sem. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0L\/T\/P\/C<br \/>\nCourse Code:CE613PE \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a03\/0\/0\/3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Objectives:\u00a0<\/strong>The objective of this course is to provide an understanding of the principles of\u00a0environmental sanitation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To present the concepts of food &amp; milk sanitation<\/li>\n<li>To study the effects of noise pollution &amp; its control<\/li>\n<li>To discuss the problems associated in rural sanitation and slum rehabilitation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course Outcomes:<\/strong> At the end of the course, the student will be able to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand know the principles of protecting environment.<\/li>\n<li>Understand provide fundamentals of rural water supply, water sanitation and milk\u00a0sanitation.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the concepts of solid waste management like handling and disposal of\u00a0hazardous wastes.<\/li>\n<li>Acquires basic knowledge about measures and control of noise pollution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; I:<\/strong> \u00a0Epidemiology \u2013 Principles of protecting the environmental sanitation measures, Insect and\u00a0Rodent Control \u2013 Occupational hazards, Industrial hygiene, Rural Water Supply and\u00a0sanitation, biogas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT \u2013 II:\u00a0<\/strong>Sanitation &#8211; community sanitation measures \u2013 sanitation of camps, festivals, schools,\u00a0swimming pools etc. Food and milk sanitation, hotel management with reference to sanitation\u00a0\u2013 food preservation, pasteurization methods and plants. Housing need \u2013 lighting and\u00a0ventilation, natural and artificial provisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; III:<\/strong> \u00a0Solid wastes \u2013 characteristics, collection, disposal by landfill, composting, incineration and\u00a0other methods.\u00a0Handling and disposal of Hazardous Wastes. Industrial Hygiene \u2013 Occupational hazards \u2013\u00a0Various operations in industrial units, Engineering and safety measures.
