III Year I Sem. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 L\/T\/P\/C<br \/>\nCourse Code: NT507PC \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a00\/0\/3\/2<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Overview:<\/strong><br \/>\nMachine Drawing gives representation of a machine component or machine by lines\u00a0according to certain set rules. Machine drawing generally gives all the external and internal\u00a0details of the machine components from which it can be manufactured. The machining\u00a0symbols, tolerances, bill of material, etc. are specified on the drawing when it is being\u00a0manufactured, then it is called production drawing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the different steps in producing drawings according to bureau of Indian\u00a0standards (B.I.S.) as per SP:46 (1988)<\/li>\n<li>Understand the application of industry standards and techniques applied in Machine\u00a0Drawing<\/li>\n<li>Comprehend general projection theory, with an emphasis on the use of orthographic\u00a0projection to represent three-dimensional objects in two-dimensional views.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>After going through this course, the student shall be able to understand the drawings\u00a0of mechanical components and their assemblies along with their utility for design and\u00a0development of mechanical system.<\/li>\n<li>Work effectively with engineering and science teams as well as with multidisciplinary\u00a0designs.<\/li>\n<li>Skillfully use modern engineering tools and techniques such as CAD- CAM softwares\u00a0for mechanical engineering design, analysis and application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>PART &#8211; A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Machine drawing conventions:<\/strong> Need for drawing conventions \u2013 introduction to ISI<br \/>\nconventions &#8211; Conventional representation of materials, common machine elements such as\u00a0screws, nuts, bolts, keys, gears, webs, ribs. Methods of dimensioning, general rules for sizes\u00a0and placement of dimensions for holes, centers, curved and tapered features. Title boxes, their\u00a0size, location and details &#8211; common abbreviations and their liberal usage. Types of Drawings\u00a0\u2013 working drawings for machine parts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drawing of machine element:<\/strong> Simple parts &#8211; Selection of Views, additional views for the\u00a0following machine elements and parts with every drawing proportions. Popular forms of\u00a0Screw threads, bolts, nuts, stud bolts, tap bolts, set screws. Keys, cottered joints and knuckle\u00a0joint. Riveted joints for plates. Shaft coupling, spigot and socket pipe joint.
