III Year II Sem. \u00a0 L\/T\/P\/C<br \/>\nCourse Code:ME613PE \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a03\/0\/0\/3<br \/>\nPre-requisites: Machine Design, Machine Tools and Metrology, Machining Science<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Objectives:<\/strong> As a result of this course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement the tool design process when designing tooling for the manufacturing of a\u00a0product.<\/li>\n<li>Apply Geometric Tolerancing principles in the designs of tooling.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate and select appropriate materials for tooling applications.<\/li>\n<li>Design, develop, and evaluate cutting tools and work holders for a manufactured\u00a0product.<\/li>\n<li>Design, develop, and evaluate appropriate gaging \/gaging systems to define limits and\u00a0specifications of a work piece during the manufacturing process.<\/li>\n<li>Design, develop, and evaluate tooling for various joining processes.<\/li>\n<li>Apply ANSI standards to tool design drawings and layouts.<\/li>\n<li>Use CAD and conventional techniques in creating tooling drawings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course Outcomes:<\/strong> At the end of the course, the student will be able to, Understand basic\u00a0motions involved in a machine tool. Design machine tool structures. Design and analyze\u00a0systems for specified speeds and feeds. Select subsystems for achieving high accuracy in\u00a0machining. Understand control strategies for machine tool operations.
