Necessity and advantages of\u00a0alternative routes of iron making.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Outcome:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe student will be in a position to understand the process of Iron Making in detail, there by\u00a0he\/she would be understanding the process variables to enhance the productivity and\u00a0efficiency of the Blast Furnace and alternative routes of Iron Making.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-I: <\/strong>History of Iron making, valuation of iron ores and classification of iron ores, Principles of\u00a0Iron making, Reduction, Smelting, Direct Reduction, Smelt Reduction; Raw materials for\u00a0Iron making, their distribution, occurrence in India and in the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-II :<\/strong>\u00a0Preparation of iron ores; Agglomeration of Iron ore fines, Sintering; Principles, Factors\u00a0affecting sintering, sintering bonds, sintering machines; Pelletisation; Theory of Pelletisation,\u00a0Water-particles system. Production of green pellets in; disk and drum pelletizers, Induration\u00a0of pellets, Shaft, traveling grate and continues grate kiln machine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT-III: \u00a0<\/strong>Blast Furnace profile and its design, Refractory lining.
