II Year II Sem. \u00a0 \u00a0L\/T\/P\/C<br \/>\nCourse Code: EC402ES \u00a0 \u00a04\/0\/0\/4<br \/>\nPrerequisite: Ordinary Differential Equations &amp; Laplace Transform, Mathematics I<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To understand the different ways of system representations such as Transfer function\u00a0representation and state space representations and to assess the system dynamic\u00a0response<\/li>\n<li>To assess the system performance using time domain analysis and methods for\u00a0improving it<\/li>\n<li>To assess the system performance using frequency domain analysis and techniques\u00a0for improving the performance<\/li>\n<li>To design various controllers and compensators to improve system performance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course outcomes<\/strong>: After completion of this course the student is able to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve the system performance by selecting a suitable controller and\/or a\u00a0compensator for a specific application<\/li>\n<li>Apply various time domain and frequency domain techniques to assess the system\u00a0performance<\/li>\n<li>Apply various control strategies to different applications (example: Power systems,\u00a0electrical drives etc\u2026)<\/li>\n<li>Test system Controllability and Observability using state space representation and\u00a0applications of state space representation to various systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT \u2013 I\u00a0Introduction<\/strong>: Concepts of Control Systems- Open Loop and closed loop control systems and\u00a0their differences- Different examples of control systems- Classification of control systems,<br \/>\nFeed-Back Characteristics, Effects of feedback.
