II Year I Sem. Generators:<\/strong> Principle of operation \u2013 Action of commutator \u2013 constructional features \u2013<br \/>\narmature windings \u2013 lap and wave windings \u2013 simplex and multiplex windings \u2013 use of\u00a0laminated armature \u2013 E. M.F Equation.\u00a0Armature reaction \u2013 Cross magnetizing and de-magnetizing AT\/pole \u2013 compensating winding\u00a0\u2013 commutation \u2013 reactance voltage \u2013 methods of improving commutation. Methods of\u00a0Excitation \u2013 separately excited and self excited generators \u2013 build-up of E.M.F &#8211; critical field<br \/>\nresistance and critical speed &#8211; causes for failure to self excite and remedial measures.
