Course Objective:<\/strong>
\nThe laboratory course critically deals with the characterization of fuels, refractories and\u00a0measurement of temperature. Apart from this it also concerns the flow properties of\u00a0lubricants and their variation with temperature.<\/p>\n

Course Outcome:<\/strong>
\nThe student will gain hands-on experience on the equipment that facilitates property\u00a0evaluation of fuels, lubricants and Refractories. This would provide the student to choose the\u00a0fuels and refractories for specific use in construction of different furnaces.<\/p>\n

  1. To find the Flash and Fire points of fuel oil by \u201cPENSKY MARTINS\u201d open and\u00a0closed cup apparatus.<\/li>\n
  2. To find the flash and points of fuel oil by ABEL’s Flash point apparatus<\/li>\n
  3. To find the viscosity of lubricant oil by usingRed-wood-I Viscometer
    \nRed-wood-II Viscometer
    \nSaybolt Viscometer<\/li>\n
  4. To find the calorific value of solid and liquid fuels by using \u201cBomb Calorimeter\u201d<\/li>\n
  5. To find the calorific value of gaseous fuels by using \u201cJunker’s Gas Calorimeter\u201d<\/li>\n
  6. To study proximate analysis of Coal<\/li>\n
  7. To study ultimate analysis of Coal<\/li>\n
  8. To study various types of refractories and find their densities, Hardness.<\/li>\n
  9. To study Calibration of thermocouple.<\/li>\n
  10. Measurement of temperature using radiation pyrometer.<\/li>\n
  11. Measurement of temperature using optical pyrometer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
