Lever rule. Hume-Rothery rules. Importance of electron-to-atom ratio. Binary Phase Diagrams. Intermediate phases. Intermetallic compounds. Application of phase diagrams. Precipitation hardening, Dispersion strengthening, ordering and clustering tendencies of solution phases, ordered phase, miscibility gaps, spinodal boundaries and spinodal dicomposition<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT \u2013 III Microstructures:<\/strong><br \/>\nGrains and grain boundaries.
