I Year II Sem. L T\/P\/D C<br \/>\nCourse Code: MA202BS 4 1\/0\/0 4<br \/>\nPrerequisites: Foundation course (No prerequisites).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Objectives: To learn<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>concepts &amp; properties of Laplace Transforms<\/li>\n<li>solving differential equations using Laplace transform techniques<\/li>\n<li>evaluation of integrals using Beta and Gamma Functions<\/li>\n<li>evaluation of multiple integrals and applying them to compute the volume and areas of regions<\/li>\n<li>The physical quantities involved in engineering field related to the vector valued functions.<\/li>\n<li>The basic properties of vector valued functions and their applications to line, surface and volume integrals.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Course Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>After learning the contents of this course the student must be able to<\/li>\n<li>use Laplace transform techniques for solving DE\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>evaluate integrals using Beta and Gamma functions<\/li>\n<li>evaluate the multiple integrals and can apply these concepts to find areas, volumes, moment of inertia etc of regions on a plane or in space<\/li>\n<li>evaluate the line, surface and volume integrals and converting them from one to another<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div><strong>UNIT \u2013 I\u00a0 Laplace Transforms:<\/strong> Laplace transforms of standard functions, Shifting theorems,<\/div>\n<div>derivatives and integrals, properties -Unit step function, Dirac\u2019s delta function, Periodic<\/div>\n<div>function, Inverse Laplace transforms, Convolution theorem (without proof). Applications: Solving ordinary differential equations (initial value problems) using Laplace transforms.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>UNIT &#8211; II\u00a0 Beta and Gamma Functions<\/strong>: Beta and Gamma functions, properties, relation between Beta and Gamma functions, evaluation of integrals using Beta and Gamma functions.
