I Year II Sem.\r\nCourse Objectives:-<\/strong>\u00a0The students is going to study about various techniques for screening of drugs\u00a0for various pharmacological activities and guide lines for handling animals and human and animal\u00a0ethics for screening of drugs.\r\n\r\nCourse Outcome: \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0The expected outcomes are student will know how to handle animals and know\u00a0about various techniques for screening drugs for different pharmacological activities and guidelines\u00a0and regulations for screening new drug molecules on animals and human volunteers.\r\n\r\nUNIT I:<\/strong>\u00a0Care Handling and breeding techniques of laboratory animals, CPCSEA guidelines, alternatives to\u00a0animal studies, Good laboratory Practices.\r\n\r\nUNIT II :<\/strong>\u00a0Bioassays: Basic principles of Biological standardization, Merits and demerits, methods used in the\u00a0bio-assay of Rabbis Vaccine and Oxytocin. Test for pyrogens.\r\n\r\nUNIT III :\u00a0<\/strong>Toxicity tests: OECD guidelines, determination of LD50, acute, subacute and chronic toxicity studies.\r\n\r\nUNIT IV:<\/strong>\u00a0Screening: Definition, types of screening methods.
