I Year II Sem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Objective:<\/strong> To impart knowledge on composition treatment and effective disposal of industrial effluents<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge on theories and systems of industrial effluent treatment and disposal.<\/li>\n<li>An outlook on industrial effluent management with reference to specific industries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; I: Pollutants from industrial effluents \u2013<\/strong> sources, effects on streams, sewers, land \u2013 organic load on rivers. Basic theories of Industrial waste water management. Inplant survey\u2013 composite sampling \u2013 Tolerance limits for eflluents discharges into inland surface water\u2019s public sewers, and on land for irrigation \u2013 standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; II : Volume and strength reduction<\/strong>, neutralization, equalization and proportioning, recovery and recyle of waste products and bye products \u2013 joint treatment of Industrial wastes and domestic sewage \u2013 discharge into water bodies, consequent problems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; III : Characteristics and composition<\/strong> of wastes from specific manufacturing units like, paper and pulp, textile, tannery, sugar industries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; IV : Treatment of Industrial<\/strong> waste from distilleries, dairy, fertilizer plant, steel plant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; V : Oil refiners, pharmaceutical plants,<\/strong> Thermal Power Plants, and radioactive wastes.Treatment units for the above industrial effluents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TEXT BOOKS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wastewater Treatment by M.
