This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Pre-stressed Concrete M.Tech 2017-2018 (R17) first year second sem is as follows.<\/p>\n<p>M.Tech. I Year II Sem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Objectives:<\/strong> To impart knowledge on basics of prestressing and designing of different structural elements using Prestressing techniques.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Outcomes:<\/strong> The learner will be able to understand the prestressing techniques, design the various structural elements using Prestressing techniques.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; I : General Principles of Prestressed Concrete :<\/strong> Pre\u2013tensioning and post \u2013 tensioning \u2013 Prestressing by straight, concentric, eccentric, bent and parabolic tendons \u2013 Different methods and systems of prestressing like Hoyer system, Freyssinet system, Magnel Blaton system \u2013 Lee-Mc call system. Losses of Prestress: Loss of prestress in pre-tensioned and post-tensioned members due to various causes like elastic shortening of concrete, shrinkage of concrete, creep of concrete, relaxation of steel, slip in anchorage, bending of member and frictional loss \u2013 Analysis of sections for\u00a0 flexure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; II : Design of Section for Flexure:<\/strong> Allowable stresses \u2013 Elastic design of simple beams having rectangular and I-section for flexure \u2013 kern lines \u2013 cable profile and cable layout. Design of Sections for Shear: Shear and Principal Stresses \u2013 Improving shear resistance by different prestressing techniques \u2013 horizontal, sloping and vertical prestressing \u2013 Analysis of rectangular and I\u2013beam \u2013 Design of shear reinforcement \u2013 IS: 1343: 2012 provisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT &#8211; III : Deflections of Prestressed Concrete Beams :<\/strong> Short term deflections of uncracked members\u2013 Prediction of long-time deflections \u2013 load \u2013 deflection curve for a PSC beam \u2013 IS code requirements for max.
