It will be help full you to understand you complete curriculum of the year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The student shall be exposed to various aspects of handling of fluids, application of filtration,\u00a0centrifugation, crystallization and humidification in pharmaceutical industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT I<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fluid Flow<\/strong>: Types of flow, Reynold&#8217;s number, viscosity, concept of boundary layer, basic equations of fluid flow,\u00a0valves, flow meters, manometers and measurement of flow and pressure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dehumidification and Humidity control<\/strong>\u00a0Basic concepts and definition, wet bulb and adiabatic saturation temperature. Psychrometric chart and\u00a0measurement of humidity, application of humidity measurement in pharmacy, equipments for dehumidification\u00a0operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT II<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Filtration and Centrifugation: Theory of filtration, filter aids, filter media, industrial filters including filter press, rotary\u00a0filter, edge filter, etc. Factors affecting filtration, mathematical problems of filtration, optimum-cleaning cycle in batch\u00a0filters.\u00a0Principles of centrifugation, industrial centrifugal filters, centrifugal filters, and centrifugal sedimeters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT III<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Crystalization: Characteristics of crystals like; purity, size, shape, geometry, habit, forms, size and factors affecting\u00a0it. Solubility curves and calculation of yields. Supersaturation theory and its limitations. Nucleation mechanisms,\u00a0crystal growth. Study of various types of crystallizers such as Swenson walker crystalizer, vacuum crystalizer,\u00a0crystal crystallizer. Caking of crystals and its prevention.
