Course Outcomes:
- CO1 Apply basic concepts, laws and principles of thermodynamics to use and select equipments/devices/machines working on these basics
- CO2 Outline various Thermodynamic process and analyze them with respect to various parameters
- CO3 Identify the Limitations, applications and Comparison of Thermodynamic cycles based on different parameters
- CO4 Analyze performance of ICEs by operating them and observing changes in thermodynamic properties during each stroke of ICEs (and by using diagrams)
- CO5 Operate air compressors and observe the parameters affecting the performance. Different types of heat drying methods, drying during constant rate period and falling rate period

UNIT 1 – FUNDAMENTALS AND LAWS OF THERMO-DYNAMICS Duration: 10 Periods
Define the various terms associated with the Thermo dynamic system. Define the State and System. Name the types of thermo-dynamic systems. Explain the closed, open and Isolated system with examples. List the Thermo-dynamic properties of a system. Define the various Thermo-dynamic properties. Write examples for each type of property. State the Zeroth law of thermo-dynamics. State the First law of Thermo-dynamics. Second law of thermo-dynamics. Solve problems dealing with conversion of heat into work and Vice-versa.

UNIT3 THERMODYNAMIC PROCESSES AND ENTROPY OF GASSES Duration:10 Periods
