UNIT-1 :Electrical engineering fundamentals Duration: 12 Periods (L: 9 – T: 3)
Definitions: Ohms Law, Laws of resistance work, power, energy with units. Kirchoffs Laws, Definitions and units of magnetic field strength, flux, flux density, permeability, reluctance. Definitions and units electric field, field strength, permittivity, capacitance.,Faradays laws of Electro – magnetic induction. Dynamically and statically induced e.m.f., Lenzs Law, Flemings right hand rule, Inductance – self and mutual -coefficient of coupling. Energy stored in a magnetic field.
UNIT-2 :DCGenerators Duration: 08 Periods (L: 6 – T: 2)

UNIT-3: DCMotors Duration: 10 Periods (L: 75 – T: 25)
Principle of operation – Types of motors and schematic diagrams – Back e.m.f and speed equation – relation between voltages and currents – Starters and their necessity – Connection diagram of 3 point starter – Speed control methods – Field and Armature control -Applications of D.C motors- Batteries-types of batteries- AH Capacity-Efficiency .
