Unit 1 Line Balancing: Duration 10 Periods

Objectives of line balancing- line balancing- needs for balancing- goals for balancing- rules of line balancing-the two ways of production line balancing – static and dynamic. the points to be noted when line balancing- the macro and micro steps in line balancing- important aspects of line balancing -determination of cycle time (CT), determination of efficiency of a production line-formulas for-calculation of factory capacity, production capacity ,sewing room capacity, operator efficiency-on-standard operator efficiency-the easy method of CBM calculation under LCL sea shipment- sewing time by using machine RPM- minute cost of sewing line in apparel sector.

Unit 3 Documentation and Ware Housing Duration 11 Periods –

Sequence of operation in ware house- the operational elements of ware house- different handling system followed for handling of material-manual or free systems, powered systems, power and free systems- storage equipment used in industry-different equipment used for packing in the industry-fabric usage control with respect to issue of materials- spreading audit in investigating the fabric usage control – deviation from costed marked plan- fabric usage control with respect fabric reconciliationfabric faults and claims for poor quality-importance of documentation and the management function.Define the terms:1 bin centre 2 backflush 3 backhaul 4 blanket rate 5 cycle stock 6 deadweight tons 7 forward picking 8 fourth party logistics 9 lesser 10 logbook 11 order fill. three broad categories of factory compliance .

Unit 4 Apparel CostingDuration 9 Periods –

Cost, financial accounting, cost accounting and managerial accounting-the necessity of cost accounting. – Definitions of the following: book keeping. – single entry system of book keeping – double entry system of book keeping – capital, transaction, trade amount, sales returns, commission, debtor, turnover, bad debt, asset .The cost of goods- the general operating expenses-(marketing and selling expense, merchandising, design, or product development)-direct costing, absorption costing, activity-based costing and blended costing- stages of costing- the elements in garment costing- SAM for stitching-formula for calculating cut make trim cost-CMT- costing for mens shirts- basic t shirt – costing levels.

Unit 6 Production Systems and Ergonomics: Duration 10 Periods:

Whole garment production system – advantages and disadvantages of the system – Progressive bundle system synchro straight line system – Unit production system – Quick response sewing system – advantages and disadvantages- Ergonomics- the primary tasks in pressing department -solutions for the following common problems encountered in pressing department: working height, floor surface, foot pedals, input output and lighting – solutions for common ergonomic problems with hand iron – iron, balancers, upright steaming, catchers, guarding- solutions for common ergonomic problems with manual press: controls, multiple workstations. Solutions for common ergonomic problems with automatic press: hand control, foot space, contact area -Common task in finishing department- Solutions for the common problems encountered while hand sewing in the finishing department: work surface, chair, input/ output solutions for the ergonomic problems associated with the important aspects of final inspection: the work surface, input/output, support surface and accessories.
