1. Preparation of fabric and printing Paste: Duration 10 PeriodsDifferences between dyeing and printing – Main scouring methods used for scouring wool
   1. Emulsion scouring method
   2. Suint scouring method
   3. Solvent extraction method
   4. Freezing method- Crabbing treatment given to wool fabric. Potting. Types of Milling
      1. Acid
      2. Alkaline
      3. Soap- Degumming of Silk with Alkaline method – -Enzymes – scouring of polyester/cotton blends- polyester/acrylic blends – acrylic/wool blends- application of direct dyes to viscose rayon -. functions of essential ingredients used in printing paste – thickeners used in printing. Define the term pigment, auxo chrome, Zeta potential, W/O pigment emulsion, O/W pigment emulsion, Union fabric, Thermofixation, pigment emulsion, pigmentation process, pigment.
2. Heat Setting: Duration 10 PeriodsFour phases in the process of thermosetting in stenter – contact method of heat setting – steam setting method used for heat setting – hydro setting method – tenterframe. Selective infra-red emitters method- Heat setting conditions for polyester fabrics- nylonfabrics. – polyester/cotton blends and polyester/wool blends – effects of heat setting on the properties of synthetic fibres.

Acid and Basic Dyes Duration 10 PeriodsProperties of acid dyes and basic dyes.- different ways of classifying acid dyes- classification of acid dyes- depending on their fastness properties – concentration of acid used in the dyebath -characteristics of levelling agents – factors affecting the acid dyeing of protein fibres – principles of application of acid dyes to protein fibres – silk- application of basic dyes to cellulosic fibres -dyeing wool with basic dyes. application of basic dyes to silk – Define the terms: acid dyeable variants, chromatography, chromaticity.
4. Printing of Cellulosic fibres : Duration 10 PeriodsPigment printing process along with printing recipe – khadi printing process – metallic powders — naphthol padding method- naphthol printing method- naphthol nitrite padding method-naphthol nitrite printing method – advantages of using azoic colours in printing. Define the terms. Colour index,2 deep dyeing variants,3 mass coloured,4 muff dyeing, 5 pressure dyeing, 6 Short liquor dyeing
5. After Treatments : Duration 10 PeriodsPurpose of after-treatment of printed goods- ageing- working /use of Rapid ager in steaming of cotton goods – continuous steamer in steaming of cotton goods- flash ageing.- dunging, raising, fixing – curing – clearing- reduction clearing process – thermo – fixation or thermosol process -disadvantages of thermosol process – steaming with super-heated steam or high temperature steaming at atmospheric pressure – high temperature steamer of Mather and Platt – High temperature Italian Arioli Festoon steamer along with advantages. – High Temperature Stork Universal Festoon steamer- importance of drying. – sublimation fastness.
