Unit 3 – Marker Planning and Spreading
Three major Constraints faced by marker planner/requirements of marker planning: Marker- Marker Efficiency. Methods of marker planning and marker use:1 Manual marker planning with full size patterns in a full size marker- computerized marker planning- objective of Spreading /The requirements of spreading process- Methods of spreading – spreading by hand – features of powered spreading machines of various levels of technology: bolt drive, loading , ply counters and cloth roll drive The nature of fabric packages : open fabric rolled- Tubular knitted fabric rolled and plaited -folded fabric- rolled and plaited – velvet -hanging .Spreading techniques for striped and checked materials -1 check spikes 2 Pinning table. 3 folding 4 blocking and relaying.
Unit 4 -Cutting Technology
Factors influencing excessive internal manufacturing costs in cutting room -Malfunctioning of cutting room leading to excessive manufacturing costs of the sewing room. Objective of cutting – requirements for fulfilling objectives of cutting- (requirements of cutting-1 precision of cut 2 clean edges3 un scorched unfused edges 4 support of the lay 5 consistent cutting)- Cutting Equipment: Hand shears – straight knife Round knife – Band knife -Notches- Drills and thread markers-Computer controlled. Cutting knives- Laser cutting – ultrasonic cutting – servo assisted straight knife. Preparation of cut work for sewing; Position marking – Shade marking – Bundle preparation -Bundle tickets.
