Course Outcome:

  1. Identify, select necessary materials and perform electrical wiring of special lamp circuits
  2. Identify the resistors, capacitors, compute and measure their values
  3. Identify, select necessary materials and perform electrical wiring for power circuits
  4. Identify the terminals, parts of a battery, measure the battery voltage, perform earthing and measure earth resistance

Course Contents:

Special Lamp Connections

  • Control and practice the wiring for Fluorescent Lamp/LED Lamp
  • Control and practice the wiring for Mercury Vapour Lamp/ Sodium Vapour Lamp/Halogen Lamp

Resistance Measurement & Capacitor Measurement

  • Identify different types of resistors.
  • Calculate resistance by its colour code.
  • Measuring the resistance using multimeter
  • Connecting resistors in series and parallel and measuring the resistance using multimeter.
  • Connect a rheostat in a given circuit and vary its resistance from minimum to maximum resistance position.
  • Identify different types of capacitors.
  • Find the value/specifications of capacitor from value printed and color code.

Wiring Power Loads

  • Control two sub-circuits through Energy meter, MCBs and two 1way switches.
  • Control 1.5 ton capacity A/C equipment by MCB and stabilizer.
  • Connect the Inverter to power supply through 3 pin socket and 1way switch (Back up)
  • Connect Computer by main switch board with a Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB)
  • Connect and test the given Public Address System

Battery Voltage Measurement &Earthing

  • Measurement of battery voltage using voltmeter and multimeter.
  • Connecting batteries in series and parallel and observing the output voltage using voltmeter and DMM.
  • Measurement of current supplied by battery using ammeter and multimeter with rheostat as load
  • Demonstration on Pipe Earthing and Plate Earthing and measure the value of earth resistance
