pallavi, cracking and getting a good AIR both are different things. Self study is alz beneficial. but u hav to make some short of notes, try to make notes with less nos of paper. And start dealing the subject that is more familiar , surely u will get the confidence. al d bst.

first analysis the previous GATE papers and mark them weightage of marks from each topics in an ascending order then
make your short notes of CONCEPTS from standards books
after that revise your notes apply the concept in the previous GATE papers and try to find out the weak areas
ONLY SOLVE PREVIOUS GATE PAPERS AGAIN AND AGAIN 5-6 TIMES BEFORE YOUR GATE EXAM
NOT TO SOLVE ANY MOCK TESTS OF ANY COACHING it causes you to trouble
solving GATE papers is enough to get qualify gate with good percentile
if u want practice mock tests then only practice mock tests that are given on the GATE official website when they are available
