Course Outcomes:
- Operate and practice volumetric apparatus and preparation of standard solution
- Evaluate and judge the neutralization point in acid base titration
- Evaluate the end point of reduction and oxidation reaction
- Judge the stable end point of complex formation, stable precipitation
- Judge operate and demonstrate and perform precise operations with instrument for investigation of water pollution parameters
Objectives:
Upon Completion of the Course the Student Shall be able To
- Practice volumetric measurements (using pipettes, measuring jars, volumetric flask, burettes) and gravimetric measurements (using different types of balances), making dilutions, etc. To identify the chemical compounds and solutions by senses.
- Practice making standard solutions with pre weighed salts and to make solutions of desired dilutions using appropriate techniques.
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures and using Std. Na2CO3solutionfor estimation of HCl
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures and using Std. HCl solution for estimation of NaOH
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures and using Std. NaOH solution for estimation of H2SO4
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures and using Std.KMnO4solution for estimation of Mohr’s Salt
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures to determine the acidity of given samples of water (One ground water and one surface / tap water, and rain water if available)
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures to determine the alkalinity of given samples of water (One ground water and one surface / tap water)
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures to determine the total hardness of given samples of water (One ground water and one surface / tap water) using Std. EDTA solution
- Conduct titrations adopting standard procedures to determine the chlorides present in the given samples of water and wastewater (One ground water and one surface / tap water)
- Conduct the test using titrometric / electrometric method to determine Dissolved Oxygen (D.O) in given water samples (One sample from closed container and one from open container / tap water)
- Conduct the test on given samples of water / solutions (like soft drinks, sewage, etc.) to determine their pH using standard pH meter
- Conduct the test on given samples of water / solutions
- To determine conductivity
- To adjust the ionic strength of the sample to the desired value
- Conduct the test on given samples of solutions (coloured and non coloured) to determine their turbidity in NTU
- To determine the total solids present in given samples of water (One ground water and one surface / tap water)
