Course Objectives
Upon Completion of the Course the Student Shall be able To:
To identify and practice about sewing machine operations and care of sewing machine, procedure of taking body measurements, application of different basic stitches, seams, seam finishes, full ness and closures, neckline finishes in garments, construction of different garments for kids

- Practice the method of drafting, preparation paper patterns, construction of different garments- bib, jhangia, jabla, romper, A-line frock/Princess petti coat, yoke frock, umbrella frock, party wear-long frock
1.0 Sewing Machine Operations and Care of Sewing Machine
Operating the sewing machine, illustrating the parts of a sewing machine, preparing the sewing machine, Locating the oiling points on sewing machine, Practicing stitching different lines and curves on paper and cloth.
2.0 Recording Measurements
Preparing a personal measurement chart, demonstrating the taking of measurements for dress form
3.0 Basic Stitches, Seams and Seam Finishes
Preparing samples for different temporary and permanent stitches, illustrating the different temporary and permanent stitches, preparing samples of different seams: plain, lapped, flat fell, welt, slot, French, Mantua makers & piped seams, Preparing samples of different seam finishes: pinked, double stitch, edge stitch, bound seam edge, herring bone &overcast seam finishes.
4.0 Fullness and Closures
Preparing samples of fullness: different types of darts, tucks, pleats, gathers, godets, flares and flounces, plackets: continuous wrap opening, zipper placket, narrow binding placket, Preparing samples of different fasteners: button and buttonholes (vertical and horizontal), press buttons, bound buttons, hooks and loops, eyelets and cords.
5.0 Neckline Finishes
Prepare samples for facings, bias bindings

Preparing samples for different types of layouts.
