Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the Course, the student shall be able to

1. Develop knowledge about surveying instruments & methods adopted to carry out Field Survey with a professional approach.
2. Develop skills in students in using Theodolite and curve setting.

Theodolite Surveying

1. Identification of the component parts of a theodolite
2. Performing temporary adjustment of theodolite.
3. Measurement of horizontal angle by repetition method and record the observations in the field book
4. Measurement of horizontal angles by reiteration method and record the observations in the field book
5. Measurement of Vertical angles and record the observations in the field book
6. Prolonging a given survey line by double transiting method
7. Measurement of the horizontal distance between two inaccessible points using theodolite
8. Measurement ofbearing of a survey line
9. Conducting- Theodolite traversing (closed) – Compute latitudes and departures and – Calculate the area of traverse

Tacheometry

1. Determination of Constants of Tacheometer
2. Determination of Horizontal distance and elevation by stadia Tacheometry.

Curves

1. Setting out a simple curve by chain and tape method.
2. Setting out a simple curve by one Theodolite
3. Setting out a simple curve by two Theodolite methods.

Plotting

1. Measurement of horizontal distance between two inaccessible points by plotting the data observed in theodolite survey
2. Plot the closed traverse of theodolite, distributing the closing error by Bowditch / transit rule and calculate the area of traverse
3. Plot the Simple curve after setting out inthe field
