This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Mathematics \u2013 II B.Tech 2016-2017 (R13) secondsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To make the student acquire sound knowledge of techniques in solving ordinary differential equations that model engineering problems.<\/li>\n<li>To acquaint the student with the concepts of vector calculus, needed for problems in all engineering disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>To develop an understanding of the standard techniques of complex variable theory so as to enable the student to apply them with confidence, in application areas such as heat conduction, elasticity, fluid dynamics and flow the of electric current.<\/li>\n<li>To make the student appreciate the purpose of using transforms to create a new domain in which it is easier to handle the problem that is being investigated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNIT I VECTOR CALCULUS \u00a0 \u00a0 (9+3 hours)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nGradient, divergence and curl \u2013 Directional derivative \u2013 Irrotational and solenoidal vector fields \u2013 Vector integration \u2013 Green\u201fs theorem in a plane, Gauss divergence theorem and Stokes\u201f theorem (excluding proofs) \u2013 Simple applications involving cubes and rectangular parallelopipeds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 (9+3 hours)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nHigher order linear differential equations with constant coefficients \u2013 Method of variation of parameters \u2013 Cauchy\u201fs and Legendre\u201fs linear equations \u2013 Simultaneous first order linear equations with constant coefficients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT III LAPLACE TRANSFORM \u00a0 \u00a0 (9+3 hours)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nLaplace transform \u2013 Sufficient condition for existence \u2013 Transform of elementary functions \u2013 Basic properties \u2013 Transforms of derivatives and integrals of functions &#8211; Derivatives and integrals of transforms &#8211; Transforms of unit step function and impulse functions \u2013 Transform of periodic functions.
