Error estimates and adaptive refinement: error norms and convergence rates \u2013 h-refinement with adaptivity \u2013 adaptive refinement\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>At the end of the course, the student will be able to,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply finite element method to solve problems in solid mechanics heat transfer.<\/li>\n<li>Formulate and solve problems in one dimensional structures including trusses, beams and frames.<\/li>\n<li>Formulate FE characteristic equations for two dimensional elements and analyze plain stress, plain strain, axi-symmetric and plate bending problems.
