FUNCTIONS OF INSTRUMENTS AND MEASUREMENT SYSTEM 9
\nElements of measurement – Fundamental standards, Quality of measurement, Meaning of measurement, Errors in measuring instruments, Precision and accuracy, Calibration principle, Static and dynamic characteristics of measuring instruments. Measurement of temperature. Pressure and vacuum measurement – Manometers.\n<\/p>\n

Unit II<\/h4>\n

MEASUREMENT OF PRESSURE\t9<\/strong>
\nFlow measurement – Orifice installation, Pitot tube, Area Flow meters,- Direct method, Measurement of level in open and pressure vessels. Measurement of pH and humidity. Signal transmission, and codes.\n<\/p>\n

PROCESS CONTROL\t9<\/strong>
\nIntroduction to stability – Definition via impulse response function – Routh- Hurwitz stability criterion. Control system components- Hydraulic controllers – Pneumatic controllers – PLC.\n<\/p>\n

Unit V<\/h4>\n

ADVANCED CONTROL SYSTEMS\t9<\/strong>
\nIntroduction to advanced control systems, cascade control, feed forward control, Smith predictor, control of distillation towers and heat exchangers, introduction to computer control of chemical processes.\n<\/p>\n
