The detailed syllabus of metrology and dynamics laboratory is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>To study the different measurement equipment and use of this industry for quality inspection.<\/li>\n<li>To supplements the principles learnt in dynamics of machinery.<\/li>\n<li>To understand how certain measuring devices are used for dynamic testing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Unit I<\/h4>\n<p><strong>METROLOGY\t30<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p><i>Experiments<\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Calibration and use of linear measuring instruments &#8211; Vernier caliper, micrometer, Vernier height gauge, depth micrometer, bore gauge, telescopic gauge, Comparators.<\/li>\n<li>Measurement of angles using bevel protractor, sine bar, autocollimator, precision level.<\/li>\n<li>Measurement of assembly and transmission elements &#8211; screw thread parameters &#8211; Screw thread Micrometers, Three wire method, Toolmaker\u2019s microscope.<\/li>\n<li>Measurement of gear parameters &#8211; Micrometers, Vernier caliper, Gear tester.<\/li>\n<li>Measurement of features in a prismatic component using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Programming of CNC Coordinate Measuring Machines for repeated measurements of identical components.<\/li>\n<li>Non-contact (Optical) measurement using Measuring microscope \/ Profile projector and Video measurement system.<\/li>\n<li>Surface metrology &#8211; Measurement of form parameters &#8211; Straightness, Flatness, Roundness, Cylindricity, Perpendicularity, Runout, Concentricity &#8211; in the given component using Roundness tester.<\/li>\n<li>Measurement of Surface finish in components manufactured using various processes (turning, milling, grinding, etc.,) using stylus based instruments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Unit II<\/h4>\n<p><strong>DYNAMICS LABORATORY\t30<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p><i>Experiments<\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Study of gear parameters.<\/li>\n<li>Epicycle gear Train.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of moment of inertia of flywheel and axle system.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of mass moment of inertia of a body about its axis of symmetry.<\/li>\n<li>Undamped free vibrations of a single degree freedom spring-mass system.<\/li>\n<li>Torsional Vibration (Undamped) of single rotor shaft system.<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic analysis of cam mechanism.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment on Watts Governor.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment on Porter Governor.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment on Proell Governor.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment on motorized gyroscope.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of critical speed of shafts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>At the end of the course the students would be able to<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The students able to measure the gear tooth dimensions, angle using sine bar, straightness.<\/li>\n<li>Determine mass moment of inertia of mechanical element, governor effort and range of sensitivity.<\/li>\n<li>Determine the natural frequency and damping coefficient, critical speeds of shafts,<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"justify\">For detailed syllabus of all other subjects of Mechanical &amp;
