The detailed syllabus of microbiology laboratory is as follows. <\/p>\n<p>  <title>Microbiology Laboratory<\/title><\/p>\n<h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To practically demonstrate various experimental techniques to identify the morphology, culture characteristics, propagation and control of microbes and industrial applications of microbes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>List of Experiments:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Demonstration of efficiency of sterilization techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Preparation of various types of culture media: nutrient broth and agar<\/li>\n<li>Culture techniques: isolation and preservation of cultures: broth: flask, test tubes; agar: pour plates, streak plates, slants, stabs<\/li>\n<li>Microscopic identification of bacteria<\/li>\n<li>Staining techniques: simple, differential- grams staining, spore \/capsule staining<\/li>\n<li>Quantification of microbes: sampling and serial dilution; bacterial count, total count and viable count.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of phenol coefficient to demonstrate efficiency of a disinfectant<\/li>\n<li>Perform and report sensitivity of antibiotics (Disc diffusion and well diffusion)<\/li>\n<li>Inoculate, Incubate and plot the growth curve of bacteria (E.coli)<\/li>\n<li>Effect of pH, Temperature, UV radiation on Growth of bacteria (E.coli)<\/li>\n<li>Determination of microbial inhibitory concentration (MIC).<\/li>\n<li>Biochemical identification of unknown microbes<\/li>\n<li>Demonstration of alcohol fermentation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>  Students will be able to<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Understand the advanced technical information pertaining to laboratory bio-safety and preventive measures from pathogenic microorganism.<\/li>\n<li>Develop the minimum skills to work on several important techniques using equipment for the study of microorganisms.
