The detailed syllabus of heat engines, boiler chemistry and refrigeration laboratory is as follows. <\/p>\n<p>  <title>Heat Engines, Boiler Chemistry and Refrigeration Laboratory<\/title><\/p>\n<h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<p>  To develop skill of the students on<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstration ability to carry out the different tests on heat engines.<\/li>\n<li>Carrying out the Performance and Characteristics of heat engines.<\/li>\n<li>Performance tests on boiler feed water, oils, fuels and lubricants based on the test results<\/li>\n<li>Operation and Maintenance of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>List of Experiments:<\/h4>\n<p><i>Heat Engines Lab<\/i>\n  <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Flue gas analysis by Orsat apparatus.<\/li>\n<li>Study and performance characteristics of steam turbine.<\/li>\n<li>Dryness fraction of steam using calorimeters.<\/li>\n<li>Performance characteristics of a constant speed air blower.<\/li>\n<li>Verification of fan laws and static efficiency of air blower.<\/li>\n<li>Test on Reciprocating compressor.<\/li>\n<li>C.O.P. of a Refrigeration plant.<\/li>\n<li>Performance test on A\/C plant.<\/li>\n<li>Testing of fuels &#8211; calorific value, proximate analysis<\/li>\n<li>Testing of fuels &#8211; Ultimate analysis, octane number, cetane number.<\/li>\n<li>Testing of lubricants &#8211; flash point, fire point, pour point.<\/li>\n<li>Testing of lubricants- Viscosity index, corrosion stability, carbon residue.<\/li>\n<li>Testing of lubricants &#8211; Mechanical stability, ash content.<\/li>\n<li>Wind Tunnel &#8211; Drag and lift measurements.<\/li>\n<li>Performance test on IC Engine as per BIS specifications.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><i>Boiler Chemistry Lab<\/i>\n  <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To determine hardness content of the sample of boiler water in P.P.M. in terms of CaCO3.<\/li>\n<li>To determine Chloride Content of the sample of water in P.P.M. in terms of CaCO3.<\/li>\n<li>To determine Alkalinity due to Phenolphthaline, total Alk. and Caustic Alk.
