The detailed syllabus of medicinal chemistry laboratory is as follows. <\/p>\n<p>  <title>Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory<\/title><\/p>\n<h4>Course Objective:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n  The course aims to,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide students with the practical laboratory skills of medicinal chemistry<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate the effect of the different synthetic methodology.<\/li>\n<li>clarify theoretical concepts of chemical synthesis of drug molecules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>List of Experiments:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Determination of melting point.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of pKa.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of partition coefficient of any medicinal compound by shake flask method.<\/li>\n<li>Synthesis and characterization of the following drugs:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Phenacetin, Antipyrine, Benzocaine<\/li>\n<li>Uramil, Tolbutamide<\/li>\n<li>Phenothiazine<\/li>\n<li>Isoniazid, Sulphasalazine<\/li>\n<li>Aspirin from salicylic acid<\/li>\n<li>Paracetamol from p-aminophenol<\/li>\n<li>Benzotriazole<\/li>\n<li>2-Phenyl Indole<\/li>\n<li>7-hydroxy-4 methyl coumarin<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Any other relevant experiments based on theory.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>List of Equipments<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n  REQUIRED FOR 30 STUDENTS<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water bath<\/li>\n<li>Hot air oven<\/li>\n<li>Vacuum filtration unit<\/li>\n<li>Reflux condenser<\/li>\n<li>Distillation unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Course Outcome:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n  At the end of the course the students will be able to,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>develop the ability to suggest suitable techniques to synthesize different drug molecules<\/li>\n<li>learn a variety of synthetic techniques including purification methods and should gain the ability to design a synthetic scheme for a proposed drug molecule<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate how to conduct chemical reactions within medicinal chemistry context and scientific report<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>References:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>K.Yogananda Reddy, Dr.K.N.
