Bioinformatics Lab<\/title><\/p>\n<h4>Course Objective:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n The course aims to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide hands on training on data resources and bioinformatics tools<\/li>\n<li>develop skills in the analysis and interpretation of various in silico techniques such as molecular docking and homology modelling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>List of Experiments:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Basic Linux Commands : Directory commands, File Related commands, cut, paste, commands, sort<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Linux commands : Redirection, Pipes, Grep filter<\/li>\n<li>Biological Databases : Data formats and Data retrieval<\/li>\n<li>Homology search using BLAST family of programs: BLASTp, PSIBLAST, BLASTn, Standalone BLAST<\/li>\n<li>Multiple Sequence Alignment<\/li>\n<li>Generating Phylogenetic trees and Bootstrapping<\/li>\n<li>Understanding PDB structures, Ligand databases, Structure Alignment<\/li>\n<li>Visualization tools, PyMol<\/li>\n<li>Homology Modeling and Assessing the quality of models: SwissModel, Modeller<\/li>\n<li>Molecular docking : Docking of macromolecules with ligands : Autodock<\/li>\n<li>NGS data resources<\/li>\n<li>Tools for basic analysis of NGS data<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Course Outcome:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n At the end of the course the students will be able to<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>have knowledge on working in Linux operating system, retrieve biological data and use bioinformatics tools<\/li>\n<li>perform protein and nucleotide sequence analysis, next generation sequencing data analysis and phylogenetic studies<\/li>\n<li>perform protein structural studies including modelling and docking and interpret results<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>References:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Practical Bioinformatics by Michael Agostino.
