The detailed syllabus of food analysis laboratory is as follows. <\/p>\n<p>  <title>Food Analysis Laboratory<\/title><\/p>\n<h4>Course Objective:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n  The course aims to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>equip students with characterization and estimation of chemical compounds in food for its compliance with standards.<\/li>\n<li>learn the analysis of foods for the detection of adulterants in foods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>List of Experiments:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Determination of moisture in spices powder by distillation method and Hot air oven method.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of Total fat, protein in milk and milk products.<\/li>\n<li>Rancidity test for fried foods to assess primary and secondary oxidative products.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of Vitamin C in fruit juices.\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Titrimetric method using dichlorophenolindophenol dye<\/li>\n<li>Spectrophotometric method using dinitrophenylhydrazine<\/li>\n<li>HPLC method<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Extraction and identification of synthetic Food colour in sweets, confectioneries and beverages.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of Iron content in foods.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of Iodine content in iodized salt.<\/li>\n<li>Detection and estimation of Annatto, lead, MSG, sulphur-di-oxide, Emulsifiers and stabilizers in food products.<\/li>\n<li>Estimation of antioxidant activity in foods by DPPH assay and ORAC assay.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of soluble and insoluble fibre in foods.<\/li>\n<li>Detection of adulterants in edible oil and ghee.<\/li>\n<li>Column chromatographic separation of carotenoids<\/li>\n<li>The identification of sugars in fruit juice using TLC.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Course Outcome:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n  At the end of the course the students will be able to<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>understand the analysis of foods and food products for chemical components.<\/li>\n<li>learn standards for food products.<\/li>\n<li>obtain knowledge of adulterants in foods.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Shalini Sehgal, &#8220;A laboratory manual of food analysis&#8221;, I.K.International publishing, 2016.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>References:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Ceirwyn S.
