OBJECTIVE:<\/strong> UNIT I : CONSERVATION LAWS AND TURBULENCE MODELS<\/strong> \u00a0 [9 Hours] UNIT II : FINITE DIFFERNCE APPROXIMATION<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0[9 Hours] UNIT III : FINITE VOLUME METHOD<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0[15 Hours]
\nTo make the students to demonstrate competence in setting up computational fluid dynamics models for some industrially important applications. This technical competence in building and conducting CFD simulations is a skill which enhances employability.<\/p>\n
\nGoverning equations of fluid flow and heat transfer \u2013mass conservation, momentum and energy equation, differential and integral forms, conservation and non-conservation form. Characteristics of turbulent flows, time averaged Navier Strokes equations, turbulence models-one and two equation, Reynolds stress, LES and DNS<\/p>\n
\nMathematical behaviour of PDE, finite difference operators, basic aspects of
\ndiscretization by FDM, explicit and implicit methods, error and stability analysis<\/p>\n
\nDiffusion problems \u2013 explicit and implicit time integration; Convection-diffusion problems \u2013 properties of discretisation schemes, central, upwind, hybrid, QUICK schemes; Solution of discretised equations.<\/p>\n
