Mineral Processing Laboratory<\/title><\/p>\n<h4>Course Objective:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>To study various mineral processing technique to enrich minerals.<\/li>\n<li>To study about the devices used for mineral processing techniques.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Experiments<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Study of grab sampling and different sample division techniques like coning and Quartering, riffle sampling techniques, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of crushing characteristics of a given mineral sample using jaw crusher<\/li>\n<li>Determination of the grinding characteristics of a given mineral sample using ball mill<\/li>\n<li>Sieve analysis of a given sample and to calculate (a) percentage sample retained on screens (b) average size of sample material and (c) to plot sizing curves<\/li>\n<li>Concentration of a given mineral sample using mineral jig<\/li>\n<li>Concentration of a given mineral using Wilfley table<\/li>\n<li>Concentration of a given mineral using froth flotation cell<\/li>\n<li>Concentration of a given mineral using magnetic separator<\/li>\n<li>Study of washability characteristic of a coal sample using float and sink test.<\/li>\n<li>Study of flow sheets for various mineral concentration techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Study of various pollution control measures adopted in the beneficiation plants.<\/li>\n<li>Study of coal preparation flow sheets.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Course Outcome:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n The student will be able<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To reduce the size of feed into the required product sizes.<\/li>\n<li>To carry out the screening to classify the products according to its size.<\/li>\n<li>To understand the various concentration techniques used in the processing<\/li>\n<li>To enrich the product by improving the recovery<\/li>\n<li>To understand the performance of various sampling practiced in the processing plants.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>References:<\/h4>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<ol>\n<li>Wills, B.A, Mineral Processing Technology, Pergamon Press, Oxford,2006.<\/li>\n<li>Jain, S.K, Ore Dressing, Oxford and IBH Publishing Co.
