This gives the details about credits, number of hours and other details along with reference books for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed syllabus for Foundry Technology Design B.Tech (R13) fifthsem is as follows<\/p>\n<p><strong>OBJECTIVE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To understand the principle, procedure and applications of various foundry processes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT I : CASTING PROCESS \u00a0<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0[10 Hours]<br \/>\nIntroduction to casting \u2013 pattern \u2013 materials allowances \u2013 coding \u2013 types \u2013 moulds \u2013 mould making, sand \u2013 properties, types and testing of sands \u2013 core making \u2013 type of cores \u2013 single box, two box and 3 box moulding processes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT II : CASTING METALLURGY<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0[8 Hours]<br \/>\nSolidification of pure metal and alloys \u2013 shrinkage in cast metals \u2013 progressive and directional solidification \u2013\u2013 Degasification of the melt-casting defects \u2013 Castability of steel , Cast Iron, Al alloys , Babbit alloy and Cu alloy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNIT III : DESIGN OF GATING SYSTEMS<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0[10 Hours]<br \/>\nGating systems and their characteristics; the effects of gates on aspiration; turbulence and dross trap; recent trends.
